� <br />5.4 The Union may designate employees from the bargaining unit to act as a Steward <br />and an alteinate and shall inforcn the Employer in writing of such choice and <br />changes in the position of Steward andlor alternate. Th�Stewards shall not Ieave <br />t#e�work duties for Union business without prior permissian of the Police Chief <br />or designee and �-the Steward shall notify the Police Chief or designee upon <br />the Steward's return to ��-work duties. Even if excused to conduct Union business during work <br />ltours, the Steward shall be obligated to respond to th� needs of the service if <br />called upon to do so. <br />5.5 The Emptoyer shall make space available on the employee bulietin boards far the <br />posting of Union notices and announcements. A11 notices posted on the bulletin <br />board shail be initiated, initialed and dated either by the Business Representative <br />vr a Steward. No material shali be posted on the bulletin board which is <br />derogatory to the Empioyer, its management or facilities or derogatory ta <br />individuals either expressly or by implication. The Employer reserves the right ta <br />remove any material that is inconsistent with this paragraph and shall promptly <br />�" advise the Business Representative or Steward if the Employer has removed <br />inaterial. <br />�. <br />5.6 The Business Agent of the Union, upan request to the Police Chief, shall be <br />gt•anted permission to enter upon the Employer's premises at times mutually <br />satisfactory to the Business Rep��esentative and the Police Chief, for the purpose o� <br />{I) meeting with the Police Chief or, with the permission of the Police Chief, with <br />individuai empioyees; (2) attending a Step 1 or Step 2 grievance meeting with the <br />Ernployer i•epresentative; ar {3) meeting with bargaining unit employees an an <br />individual basis during non-work per�ods in a non-work area at a meeting place <br />designated by the Police Chief. During such visits the Business Representative <br />shall not interfere with the setvice or aperations of the Employer or with on-duty <br />emplayees. <br />ARTICLE 6 <br />EMPLOYEE RIGHTS - GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE <br />6.1 Definition of a Grievance: A grievance is defined as a dispute or disagreement as <br />to the interpretaiion or application of the specific terms and conditions of ihis <br />Agreement. <br />22794-4 <br />4 <br />
