� <br />15.6 Funeral Leave: In the event of death of a inember of the emplayee's iinmediate <br />family, the employee shall be granted a maximum of th�•ee (3} days af pay to <br />attend the fune��al services. For purposes of this Subsection, "immediate family" <br />shall be construed to mean the empIoyee's mather, fathe�•, spouse, child, step- <br />child, brother, sister, or the death of the employee's spouse's father or mother. <br />One (1) day tnay be granted for attendance at the funeral af an empioyee's <br />grandpar•ent, grandchild, aunt, uncle, brother-in-Iaw or sister-in-law. A additional <br />three (3} days may be granted by the Police Chief, with the additional days to be <br />taken from tk�e employee's accumulated unused sick leave. Funeral leave shall not <br />be cumulative. <br />15.7 Terminal Leave: Any employee leaving the munzcipal service in good standing <br />and upon compietion of the probationary period, after giving at Ieast fourreen (14) <br />days advance notice to the Employer, shall be compensated for vacation leave <br />accrued and unused to the date of separation. Failure to comply with this <br />procedure may be considered cause for denying the employee futuz•e employment <br />by the City and the empioyee shalt be deemed to have left in bad standing. <br />15.8 Absence Without Leave: Any employee absent from scheduled duty that is not <br />reported to and authorized by the Employer shall be deemed an absence without <br />leave, An employee absent without leave will be subject to disciplinary action. � <br />An employee absent without leave for two (2) consecutive days shalt be deemed to <br />have resigned employment. The Employer may grant approval for the leave <br />subseqt�ent to the unauthorized absence, if the Employer determines the <br />cYrcurnstances sui��oijnding the absence warrant such action. <br />ARTICLE 16 <br />PROBATIONARY PERIODS <br />16.1 Prabatianary Period. All n�wty hired or �•ehit�ed ful�-time employees shall seive a <br />SIX �C)� I71021f11 pI•obationary period. Part-time erriployees shall seive a prabationary <br />period consisting of one thousand forty {1044) hours or one (1) year of <br />employment with the Empioyer, whichever occurs first. The probationary period <br />may be extended for up to six (6} calendar months for fult-time and pat�t-time <br />employees by action of the City Councii after conferring with the Unian. <br />16.2 Dismissal. At any tiine during the proba�ionary period, the Employer shall have <br />the unqualified right to suspend without pay, discharge, ar otherwise discipline <br />such employee; and during this probationary period, the empioyee shali have no <br />recourse to the grievance procedure, insafar as suspension, discharge or other <br />discipline is concerned. <br />22794-4 <br />17 <br />-� <br />
