If either party desires a <br />verbatim record af the proceedings, it may cause such a record to be made, <br />p��oviding it pays for the record. If bo#h parties desire a verbatim record of the <br />praceedings, the cost shall be shared equally. <br />b.6 Choice of Remedv: If, as a result of the written Employer response in Step 2, the <br />grievance �•emains um•esalved, and if the grievance involves the suspension, <br />demotian, or discharge of an employee who has completed the required <br />probationary period, the grievance may be appeated either to Step 3 of Article 6 or <br />a procedure such as: Civil Service or Veteran's Px•eference. If appealed to any <br />procedure other than Step 3 of this Article, the grievance is noi subject to the <br />arbitratian procedure set forth herein. The aggrieved emplayee shall indicate in <br />writing which procedu��e ts to be utilized - Step 3 of this Article or another appeal <br />pracedure - and shail sign a statement to the effect that the choice of any other <br />procedure precludes the aggrieved employee from making an additional appeal <br />through Step 3 of this grievance procedure. <br />6.7 Postmark: A grievance shali be considered to have been wzthin the time limits set <br />forth in this Ai-�icle if it is postmarked within the time limits specified. <br />ARTICLE 7 <br />DISCIPLINE <br />7.1 The Employer will discipline for just cause only. Discipiine shall be in the form <br />of: <br />a) Oral Reprimand; <br />b} Written Reprimand; <br />c) Suspension withaut pay; <br />d} Demotion; <br />e) I�ischarge. <br />The pa�•ties recognize the principles of prog��essive discipline, but acknowledge <br />and ag�•ee that the appropriate ievel of ciiscipline in each case depends on the <br />circumstances. Progressive discipline does not require that discipline be impased <br />in the order tisted in this Sectian. <br />7.2 Discipline will be in writien form and shall be read and acknowledged by <br />sigrtature of the einployee.
