Board of Review Meeting
May 16, 2006
Page 2
---------------------------------
LOT 7/13LOCK 2 - $16,350
LOT 7/13LOCK 3 - $19,280
LOT 3, BLOCK 1 - $4,820
AND TO BASE FUTURE VALUES ON THE LOTS ON SQUARE
FOOTAGE. COUNCIL MEMBER GREER SECONDED THE MOTION.
MOTION CARRIED 7-0.
Assessor Olson reviewed complaints that were referred to his office.
Request to Hire Part Time Officers
Assistant Chief Ryan noted that the Council previously approved the wage for
part time officers at $14.22 per hour. He requested the Council to consider hiring
Brian Madison and Katie Peterson. The Council questioned whether the addition
of part time officers would provide 24/7 coverage for the department. Assistant
Chief Ryan indicated that this would bring the department closer to full coverage
but will not completely allow for 24 hour coverage. He noted that the part time
officers would fill the gaps during vacation and sick time and would alleviate the
need for overtime. He further noted there would be more coverage during the
\., night shifts on weekends.
The Council questioned how the positions would be paid for. Assistant Chief
Ryan indicated that the grant from the restorative justice program would pay for
the two officers this year and next year would be covered by administrative fines
and overtime, which would be eliminated and not have to be budgeted for.
COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO HIRE THE TWO PART TIME
OFFICERS. COUNCIL MEMBER BOLZ-ANDOLSHEK SECONDED THE
MOTION.
Discussion continued regarding how exactly the positions would be paid for now
and in the future. The Council also questioned other budgetary items and
requested to be provided with more information regarding the status of this year's
budget.
COUNCIL MEMBER BOLZ-ANDOLSHEK WITHDREW THE SECOND.
COUNCIL MEMBER PFEIFFER WITHDREW THE MOTION.
It was the consensus of the Council to discuss this at the May 23rd meeting
following the Highway 371 issue.
