SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL <br /> BOARD OF REVIEW <br /> TUESDAY, MAY 16, 2006 <br /> PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Mayor C. Malecha, Council Members Greer, Bolz- <br /> Andolshek, Nagel, Pfeiffer, Sjoblad, and Ryan <br /> Staff Present: Sandra Peine, City Clerk <br /> Also Present: Darrell Olson, County Assessor <br /> Call Meeting to Order <br /> Mayor Malecha called the Board of Review to order at 10:00 a.m. <br /> The following individuals were heard regarding the 2006 property assessment: <br /> 1. Bill Haertzen <br /> Mr. Haertzen indicatd that his market value has increased from $584,000 <br /> to $829,000 in a two year period. He noted that the lots cannot be <br /> subdivided because the lot property has been included on the National <br /> Register of Historic Places. The Council decided that due to the impacts <br /> on the property and the uniqueness of the situation that the market value <br /> should be reduced. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER GREER MOVED TO LOWER THE MARKET <br /> VALUE TO $635,000 WITH EACH VACANT LOT TO BE PRORATED <br /> AND THAT THE LOTS WITH THE STURCTURES NOT BE REDUCED. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 7-0. <br /> 2. Don Messick <br /> Mr. Messick questioned the how land value could increase so much in one <br /> year. The property in question included three common lots. Assessor <br /> Olson indicated that the reason for the large increase was due to the <br /> property not being valued correctly in 2005. The Council questioned <br /> whether the error should be made up in one year. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER PFEIFFER MOVED TO REDUCE THE MARKET <br /> VALUATION FOR EACH LOT AS FOLLOWS: <br />
