City Council Meeting
January 11, 2006
Page 9
---------------------------
Council Member Bolz-Andolshek indicated that he would rather see this
development served with city utilities and indicated he is looking for
options to make this happen.
City Engineer Tim Houle noted that he was requested to put together a
very preliminary cost for streets, sanitary sewer, and watermain to the
Trailside Estates project. He reviewed the total project cost estimates
which totaled $599,704.20. He reminded the Council that this is a very
rough preliminary figure. Mr. Houle spoke to the Council regarding the
options. He indicated that if the developer proceeds on his own, then the
developer and city should enter into a developer's agreement. This would
ensure that the project is competed to City standards. If the City initiates
the project the costs would be assessed back to the property owner.
The Council discussed the exposure to the City if the City assesses the
project. The Council also discussed the issue of this possibly setting a
precedent for other developers. One option discussed was having the
developer pay a portion of the project up front and the City assessing the
balance of the project. The Council requested information on how this
would affect the City's bonding capacity.
`-- No decision was made on this issue.
4. Adjournment
There being no further business, COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED
TO ADJOURN THE MEETING. COUNCIL MEMBER PFEIFFER
SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 7-0.
The regular meeting of the City Council adjourned at 9:55 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Sandra A. Peine
City Clerk
