MOTION <br /> CARRIED 7-0. <br /> 4. Open Forum <br /> 4.1. Highway 371 <br /> Jack Schmidt indicated that he was present along with other citizens who <br /> would like to speak to the Highway issue. He indicated that he has a <br /> petition for the Council requesting that a referendum be held to ask the <br /> citizens if the highway should go around town or through town. The City <br /> Clerk indicated that according to a written legal opinion from the City <br /> Attorney, the City cannot hold a referendum on this question. <br /> Mayor Malecha took comments from the audience. <br /> Gil Whitmore — Box 6, Jenkins — Stated the current road is a bad design. It <br /> would be more dangerous if it is not widened. If road goes around town, <br /> the buses will still use the through town road. In favor of through town. <br />
