PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT
MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 2,2006 MEETING
The regular meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson,25 members were
present. The minutes of the last meeting were approved by a motion by Peterson II,
second by Nolden,motion passed.
Truck and equipment checks were discussed. The Peterbuilt is missing the collapsible
orange cones and one flash light.Neil motioned we purchase a set of orange regular
cones and a cone holder, second by Evenson, motion passed unanimous. Engine 2 was
missing a 4 '/2"to 5"storz adapter,two 5"by 4" storz adapters,the washer fluid was low,
a scene light fixture was broke, and pack 16's batteries were dead. Tanker 3 has the bad
dump tank. Engine 4(van)has four crew cards missing and the chop saw is out of
service. Engine 5 (old grass truck)needs a gas can and funnel. Pat has a relief valve for
the pump so it won't overheat. It is also missing the wheel chocks,a shovel, an axe,and it
should have a carton of water on it. Tanker 6 has an extra set of jumper cables,an extra
rubber mallet, needs the step ladder listed on the check list, and the intake manifold has a
small leak. Engine 7(tender)needs back up fuses and has an extra safety cone. Engine 9
is missing the orange flash light and the coolant is low for the four wheeler. The missing
safety cones for the Pete were found on the van. The 1975 pump truck was not checked
tonight.
The financial report listed the fire fund balance at about$21,400.00 and the City should
have paid their contract for about$30,000. The scholarship fund balance is at$1102.67.
Our checking account balance is $6572.40. The final numbers for the breakfast lists our
profit at$4370.11. The cost for the summer party totaled$409.67.
The Fire Board voted to help the department collect unpaid fire bills during the first year,
and then each contracted area would pay for any uncollectible bills from their area. We
appreciate the help the Police Department has given us in collecting bills and obtaining
mailing addresses.
The Cuyuna Range is having a personal safety event on September 9th. That is the same
day as the Wadena fire fighters rodeo. Wadena has 17 teams signed up and need one
more. We are included in that list. Feature for the rodeo are a wheelbarrow bucket
brigade, various relays, water wars with a barrel on a cable, and an obstacle course. Any
tie breakers will be settled with a tug of war. All events will be done with full gear. They
would like the names of our team members. Our members signed up are Dan,Dave
Szymanski, and Tom. We still need one more. Also Wadena would like a department to
demonstrate the use of the Hurst tool.
The Safety issue for tonight is some pictures of the Moraine house fire at Breezy Point.
We were too close to live power lines.
