June 28, 2006
The Honorable Mayor and City Council
City of Pequot Lakes
4368 County Road 11
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472
RE: Engineering Services Proposal
South Oak Drive / Marshall Street Improvements
Dear Mayor and Members of the Council:
The City of Pequot Lakes is considering reconstructing South Oak Street from Brown Street, to
its southern end near Coleman Drive. Reconstruction of Marshall Street is being considered as
part of this project.
Our scope of services is based on the following layout of improvements. They are numbered for
ease of reference, not in any order of rank.
1. Roadway reconstruction of Marshall Street and South Oak Street. Proposed roadways
will be constructed to an urban design, including curb, gutter, and storm sewer where
needed.
2. Extension of sanitary sewer system. We will study the feasibility of extending sanitary
sewer from Brown Street south along the length of South Oak Street. Should the City
wish to proceed with these improvements, adjacent properties will have services
extended to them to allow for hook-up and intersecting roads will have stubs extended
for future expansion of the system.
It is likely that at least one lift station will be required at some point along South Oak
Street or the surrounding area to provide adequate depth for the system.
3. Extension of water system. We will study the feasibility of extending watermain south
along the length of South Oak Street from its present location on Brown Street. Should
the City wish to proceed with these improvements, adjacent properties will have services
extended to them to allow for hook-up and intersecting road will have stubs extended for
future expansion of the system.
The existing system will also need to be studied to determine if looping toward the water
tower is necessary as part of this project.
4. Restoration of the project will likely include a combination of seeding and sod.
Sidewalks and aesthetics can be included in the project should the City desire them.
WSN proposes the following scope of services for completing the above anticipated
improvements:
