SAFETY OFFICER Requirements Same as basic firefighter plus the following: `'• Firefighter 1 certification • Minimum 3 years on Pequot Lakes Fire Dept. • Safety Officer class from accredited sectional school or equivalent • Accountability class from accredited sectional school or equivalent • 1 st Arriving Officer class from accredited sectional school or equivalent Job Description • Same as basic firefighter plus the following: • Attends monthly officers meetings • Adheres to a high code of conduct, displays a professional attitude and image not only while on duty but also in personal life while serving as a department officer • Ensures safety at all Pequot Lakes Fire Department activities, fire/rescue scenes, trainings and drills. ASST. CHIEFS— Is` & 2°d Assistants Requirements • Same as basic firefighter plus the following: • Minimum of 5 years on the Pequot Lakes Fire Department • Firefighter 2 certification • Safety Officer class from accredited sectional school or equivalent • Accountability class from accredited sectional school or equivalent �.• 1 st Arriving Officer class from accredited sectional school or equivalent • Incident command class from accredited sectional school or equivalent • Leadership 1 class from accredited sectional school or equivalent • Leadership 2 class from accredited sectional school or equivalent Job Description • Same as basic firefighter plus the following: • Reports directly to chief 1 • May take operations at emergency scenes and/or incidents (operations) when in the officer's seat • Supervises operation of apparatus by others when officer on scene • May serve as a project team leader at drills, fire prevention and other departmental operations • Adheres to a high code of conduct, displays a professional attitude and image not only while on duty but also in personal life while serving as a department officer • Conveys and transmits information verbally or in written form in a clear, concise and appropriate manner • Attends monthly officers meetings • Effectively applies the incident command system at all types of incidents • Provides leadership, supervision and support to the firefighters during operations under extreme conditions • Assists in formulating and implementing policies and procedures/budgets necessary to the operation of the fire department with the fire chief. • Assumes ultimate command of emergency incidents when necessary
