• Employees should promptly read and act on the e-mail messages received and then <br /> delete them. Retain important e-mail messages by storing them to an archive file or <br /> printing them out and putting them in a file folder. As a guide, employees should delete <br /> all emails three (3) months or older. <br /> • This Policy applies to all employees, contractors, part-time employees, volunteers, and <br /> other individuals who are provided access to the City's e-mail system. Third parties <br /> should only be provided access to the City e-mail system as necessary for their <br /> business purpose with the City, and only if they abide by all applicable rules. <br /> Contractors and third-party users who are in violation of this Policy may be removed <br /> from the e-mail system and/or have their contract revoke addition, other legal <br /> remedies may be pursued. <br /> Internet Use <br /> City-provided Internet access is available to employ as ng as they ag to abide by this <br /> Policy. The use of the City Internet system is int ed t serve City bus' ss. Like all e-mail <br /> messages, Internet messages are capabl bein forwarded without the express <br /> permission of the original author. Therefore, users caution in the transmission and <br /> dissemination of messages outside of the City, and st com ly with all state and federal <br /> laws. Employees are strictly prohi 'ted from using ty- vided Internet services in <br /> connection with any of the following <br /> o Engaging in illegal, fraudulw , mall conduc , <br /> o Working on behalf of organizatio wit t ofessional or business affiliation with <br /> the City; <br /> `• o Sending, receivin oring o sive, obscene/sexual in nature, or defamatory <br /> material; <br /> o Annoying or ssing of r individu , <br /> o Solicitation o u ; <br /> • Political messages, <br /> • Monit terce the files or electronic communications of employees or third <br /> pa ; <br /> o ining unauth 'zed ess to any computer system; <br /> • si another indi ual's account or identity without explicit authorization; <br /> • Attem ' g to test ircumvent, or defeat security or auditing systems of the City or any <br /> other or izati ithout prior authorization; <br /> • Distributing oring chain letters, solicitations, offers to buy or sell goods, or other <br /> non-busine material contrary to the City's interests; <br /> ,c Id ntin self as mploy f the City any system, personal or business, <br /> li wit �i� g <br /> foll wing iscl ime . -Th vie , opi 'ons d tets expressed in <br /> this sage ar s lely th of the author.
