Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
This office represents Bonnie Watt in connection with zoning issues relating to her property
located on Highway 16. There are apparently two issues with the property.
First, Ms. Watt harvested trees and otherwise prepared to develop the property sometime ago. It
was her understanding that removal of vegetation was consistent with regulations enforced by
the Department of Natural Resources, this understanding being based on her personal
communications with the Department of Natural Resources.
Unfortunately, after some vegetation had been removed, the City advised Ms. Watt that removal
of vegetation and the condition of the property was inconsistent with applicable regulations. It
appears from the record, that the City and Ms. Watt are being told two different stories by two
different persons within the Department of Natural Resources. As a result of this confusion, my
client has obtained estimates for the work necessary to clear the trees and debris from her
property, which are prohibitive. Copies of these estimates are attached.
This office has been communicating with Charles Marohn of the Community Growth Institute to
address this situation. At the most recent Planning Commission meeting, the Planning
Commission decided to appoint a Planning Commission member to act as liaison to
communicate with this office, Ms. Watt, and Community Growth Institute with respect to
LAOpen matters\Watt,Bonnie\Correspondence\06-06-06 Itr to City of Pequot Lakes.docL:\Open matters\Watt,Bonnie\Correspondence\06-06-06
Itr to City of Pequot Lakes.doc
