Other <br /> `., area departments were invited to attend as well. <br /> May 19" Officer Nangle provided traffic stop training to the Officer Skills classes currently <br /> enrolled at Central Lakes College in Brainerd. <br /> May 22-23`d Officers Hogan and Gartner attended, Defensive/Pursuit Driver training at the <br /> Hibbing College. This course is required of all officers on a 3 yr cycle. <br /> May 25" Officer Hogan provided M16 training for area officers at the Pine River Police <br /> Dept. shooting range. Officer Gartner also attended the class and is now certified <br /> to carry an M16 in his squad. This is an annual certification. <br /> Significant Case Files: <br /> • K9 Officer Gartner and Shadow were recently used do to a weapons search at the Pequot <br /> Lakes Middle School, after the school and department were notified of a possible threat <br /> in the school. No weapons were found. <br /> • There have been a number of cases of vandalism to businesses and the church in the area <br /> of the Oasis complex over the past 3 to 4 weeks. The department is still looking for <br /> information on possible suspects at this time. <br /> • There was a motorcycle/vehicle accident on Hwy 371 in the area of Crow Wing Auto <br /> Body, resulting in a fatality. There was not a Pequot Lakes Officer on duty at the time of <br /> the accident. The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Dept and State Patrol were called to <br /> respond. One passenger was air lifted to Minneapolis. <br /> • Officer Nangle became the lead officer in a high speed vehicle pursuit of armed robbery <br /> suspects from a Baxter gas station/convenience store, in the early morning hours of the <br /> 23` . Officer Nangle was the only officer on duty available north of Brainerd/Baxter. He <br /> intercepted the suspect's vehicle south of Breezy Point and pursued them until they were <br /> stopped on Hwy 6 near the intersection with County Rd 11, north of Crosby with the <br /> assistance of an Officer from the Crosby Police Dept.
