Every Officer has
been to court at least once this month, on several different cases. Chief Braam and Officer
Gartner have also had to go to court back in southern Minnesota on past cases.
Equipment:
The Durango was picked up last week, so Deputy Chief Ryan now has a squad available for his
use again. The vehicle is being serviced this week to prepare it for use with our department. The
vehicle will be painted black and decaled to match the other squads.
Activities:
The Reserve Unit program is up and running, with 2 reservists on duty both Friday night and
Saturday nights starting with the opening of fishing weekend. They have helped with security
checks of all the businesses in Pequot Lakes and Jenkins as well as out-of-town house checks.
General street patrol, watching for incidents that require officer attention and assisting Officer's
on duty as needed. Officers reported that those drivers that were given the opportunity to
participate in the program were receptive to the benefits of not having the traffic offenses going
onto their driving record and the chance to correct their driving behavior.
Training:
May 3rd Officer Nangle attended a Shoot House training, live ammunition is used during
the training course, where officers are trained in apprehending armed suspects that
are hold up in a residence.
May 9th Officers Nangle and Gartner attended Active Shooter training; simulation
ammunition is used for this program.
May 18th Deputy Chief Ryan and Office Manager Wedan attended Predatory Offender
Training here at City Hall, put on by Deb Backdahl of the CWC Sheriff's Office.
The training reviewed Police Dept's requirements in the registration and
compliance process according to MN Statute. Wedan presented the information to
