MONTHLY STAFF REPORT City Clerk's Office March 2006 Meetings • March 2—Meeting at the Senate Building with Speaker Sviggum and other communities regarding sales tax • March 6—Meeting with representatives from Potlatch regarding land in city limits • March 8 —Meeting with Chamber Board • March 8 —Meeting with Mark Jurchen regarding insurance • March 8 —Council Meeting • March 9—Safety Committee Meeting • March 9—Staff Meeting • March 9—Comparable Worth Committee Meeting • March 10— Safety Training with other cities at Pequot City Hall • March 10—Meeting with LMC Loss Control Person regarding fire tower safety • March 13 —budget Meetings • March 14-17—MCFOA (Minnesota Clerks and Finance Officers Assoc.) Conference • March 21 — Special Council Meeting—Roads • March 22—State Capitol—Presentation to Tax Senate Committee on sales tax • March 23 —Interviews for Office Assistant • March 27—Meeting with BLADC regarding funding options • March 27—Interview for Office Assistant • March 28— Safety Training—all day • March 31 —Meeting with Ray Niemann regarding personnel policy Projects/Issues ■ SAFETY TRAINING/PROGRAM We have had two joint safety training meetings with the cities that have joined the program. We have set a schedule that entails rotating the meetings at member cities city halls. ■ LOCAL OPTION SALES TAX The Mayor and I have taken two trips to the legislature to speak to the sales tax issue. The last we have heard is that the bill has been referred to transportation. If the bill is passed, we will be discussing methods to inform the public on this issue so that they can make an informed decision at the polls.
