The estimated costs for both approaches are presented. Not
surprisingly, the addition, while involving a lot of money,
is less expensive overall than a new facility on a new site.
However, the cost per square foot between the two
approaches is not significantly different. Besides outright
initial cost, we suggest the Council also look at other
factors (e.g. the square footage differences, the future uses /
needs for all departments on the existing site; bonding
options and rules for additions -just to name a few).
Tim Houle asked the Council last month to get WSN one
set of comments, as the scope of work includes one update
of this draft report. He will be available at the meeting to
address any inquiries the Council may have.
Council Action Requested: Council discussion and
direction on how to proceed with the findings of this Study.
