9. MEMBERS SHALL NEVER HAVE, POSSESS, CONSUME, USE, OR BE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ANY DRUGS <br />`-- OR ALCOHOL WHILE RESPONDING TO ANY EMERGENCY CALLS, PARTICIPATING IN ANY TRAINING DRILLS, <br />OR WHILE ATTENDING ANY DEPARTMENT MEETINGS OR OTHER FUNCTIONS. <br />10. IT SHALL BE THE DUTY OF ANY OfFICER AND ANY TWO �2� MEMBERS OF THE DEPARTMENT TO INITIATE <br />DISCIPLINARY ACTION AGAINST ANY MEMBER REASONABLY SUSPECTED OF BEING UNDER THE <br />INFLUENCE OF DRUGS OR ALCOHOL WHILE ON DUTY. <br />11. DEPARTMENT MEMBERS SHALL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL DEPARTMENT PROPERTY UNDER THEIR <br />CHARGE. <br />12. MEMBERS SHALL BE EXPECTED TO ARRIVE ON TIME AND PREPARED TO PARTICIPATE IN DEPARTMENT <br />MEETINGS AND TRAININGS. TARDINESS DISRUPTS THE EFFICIENCY OF DEPARTMENT AND WILL NOT BE <br />TOLERATED. <br />EVERY MEMBER OF THE DEPARTMENT IS EXPECTED TO BE AWARE OF, AND ACT IN COMPLIANCE WITH, THIS <br />CODE OF CONDUCT, ITS RELATED POLICIES, AND ANY POLICIES PUT IN PLACE BY THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES. <br />VIOLATION OF THESE PRINCIPLES AND POLICIES IS A SERIOUS MATTER AND WILL BE DEALT WITH BY THE <br />OFFICERS OF THE DEPARTMENT. ANY MEMBER, WHO VIOLATES THESE POLICIES OR ANY OF THE POLICIES SET <br />FORTH IN THE BYLAWS OF THE DEPARTMENT SHALL BE SUBIECT TO APPROPRIATE DISCIPLINARY ACTION�UP TO <br />AND INCLUDING DISMISSAL FROM THE DEPARTMENT� IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DISCIPLINARY SECTION OF <br />THESE BYLAWS. <br />~' SECTION Z <br />IT SHALL BE THE DUTY OF THE OFFICERS �UNDER THE DIRECTION OF AND IN COOPERATION WITH THE FIRE CHIEF� <br />OF THE DEPARTMENT TO INVESTIGATE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS MADE AGAINST A MEMBER. EVERY MEMBER SHALL <br />BE ENTITLED TO A HEARING FOR ANY COMPLAINT INVOLVING POSSIBLE SUSPENSION OR EXPULSION FROM THE <br />DEPARTMENT. THESE HEARINGS SHALL CONSIST OF A MINIMUM OF FIVE (5� OFFICERS �THE FIRE CHIEF MUST BE <br />ONE OF THE FIVE� OF THE DEPARTMENT, AND THE ACCUSED. <br />$ECTION 3 <br />A MEMBER OF THE DEPARTMENT MAY BE DISCIPLINED, SUSPENDED OR EXPELLED FROM THE DEPARTMENT BY <br />THE OFFICERS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROCEDURES HEREINAFTER PROVIDED. <br />1. WHEN APPROPRIATE, DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS SHALL BE PROGRESSIVE IN NATURE AND CONSISTENT <br />WITH THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE INFRACTION. PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE WILL NORMALLY START AS AN <br />ORAL COUNSELING SESSION WITH THE OFFICER IN CHARGE OF A DEPARTMENT FUNCTION OR WORK <br />DETAIL MAKING A WRITTEN RECORD USING THE ORAL COUNSELING FORM RECOMMENDED BY THE <br />DEPARTMENT. THIS FORM SHALL BE PLACED IN THE MEMBERS PERSONNEL FILE FOR A PERIOD OF ONE <br />�1� YEAR. <br />� <br />
