Box 361 <br /> Pequot Lakes,Minnesota 56472 <br /> Dear City Council, <br /> At its meeting on December 7, 2005 in Pequot Lakes,Minnesota, the Heartland Cable Commission finalized <br /> its plan to utilize some of the Franchise Fees we have accumulated over the past 24 years as the Franchise <br /> Authority for Charter Communications. <br /> The Commission announces a "Grant" program will be established to disburse a portion of the accrued <br /> savings of the Commission starting in early 2006. Member Communities may apply for funds through this <br /> Grant Program via a single page letter addressed to the Commission outlining your City's planned use for <br /> these funds. The Commission will review all Grant Applications in early 2006 and make up to 5 Grant <br /> awards, one to each of its member communities. The Executive Committee of the Commission will be the <br /> agency appointed to review and make Grant recommendations to the Commissions Board of Directors. We <br /> anticipate full participation from all five of our member communities with each Grant totaling up to <br /> $5,000.00. Please forward your letter to Sandy Peine at the above address by January 15, 2006. We <br /> anticipate awarding these Grants by January 30, 2006. Eligible new projects can include Senior Care,Video <br /> Equipment Purchase, Scholarships, Park Equipment and many other program improvements that directly <br /> benefit your citizens. We do ask that normal budget items are not funded with these Grant monies.
