_ FEES
In 2005, a total of $43,816 in Table 2. Fee Revenue Collected 2ooe Fees
fees was collected. The Babinski
manufacturing building was $1 0.000 O 2004 Fees
constructed and the Wilderness $9=0
Point application was submitted $s o00
in January, which accounting
for most of the fee revenue that $7,000
month. The month of May had $s.o00
the most number of land use
permit requests, mostly for new $5'0°°
construction, additions, and $4.000
accessory structures.There were $s o00
also two preliminary plat
applications, one final plat $200°
application, and four lot splits $1.o00
filed in May.
$0
LL W a 0 o a
Overall, fees collected in 2005 o z S
were similar to that collected in a
2004, being roughly $1,000 more in 2005. Except in the months of January, May, and
November, the amount of fees collected each month in 2005 is comparable to collection
\.. in 2004. These anomaly months are all due to large applications or disproportionate
volume.
With a decrease in the number of applications anticipated, and with the overall cost of
the department increasing, the fee schedule is going to need to be adjusted to avoid a
shortfall. The one-time application fees paid by Babinski and Lakes Bank should not be
relied on for annual budgeting purposes. Even with these application fees, over-the-
counter revenues dropped by approximately $6,000 in 2005. These revenues are used
to cover the expenses of the day-to-day staff. While we at the Community Growth
Institute adjusts our effort based on the workload (fewer applications means fewer
expenses), the same is not true of day-to-day staff. Modest adjustments should be made
to maintain the budget within the department.
CITY 07-LQUOT LAKES y PLANNING AND ZONIV 3.:i05 REPORT
