Among them were:
• The City of Pequot Lakes adopted a total rewrite of the Land Use and
Subdivision Ordinances, completing the integration of the former
Sibley Township into the City. The ordinance rewrite was a
significant step in implementing the Comprehensive Plan approved in
2004.
• The City conducted a city-wide rezoning to implement the City's
adopted growth plan and put the zoning ordinance into effect.
• City Staff, working with the Planning Commission, began the process
of implementing the strategies of the Comprehensive Plan. Nineteen
short-term strategies were accomplished with another four in
process.
• The acceptance by Mn/DOT of the TH 371 Environmental Impact
Statement officially finalized the alignment of the expanded highway.
• In September, the City began the process of creating a Downtown
Master Plan, which creates a vision for the expansion of the
downtown business area.
• The East Twin Lake Plan was completed, with review and adoption by
the East Twin Lake Association pending in 2006.
• The Zoning Department continued to increase efficiency by reducing
processing time for applications for the third year in a row.
CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING AND ZONING 2005 REPORT 1
