i
The second reading of a proposed by-law change was read and discussed. The plan is to
eliminate our two training officers and require the three Captains to be responsible for
planning and operation of our training program. Selter motioned to approve the proposed
change, second by Rickard, motion passed unanimous.
Our open house and fire prevention operations went very well. The Chief was pleased to
announce that the entire year has rewarding for our department. Some examples of this
are Tasha working with the Habitat housing project in Pequot Lakes, the Steffen's letter
of praise for our service at their fire call, and the extensive training room project which
required countless volunteer hours given very generously by our membership.
The tables from the Historical society are here and have been numbered. Some our tables
were recently found outside of a home near the school and nobody has any idea of how
they got there. We have to be more responsible for these tables in the future.
The Chief asked the membership if we would be interested in purchasing new hats and
sweat shirts, possibly with a revised logo featuring the"bobber". They would be nice to
have in preparation for the upcoming Governor's fishing opener next spring. After
discussion, Evenson motioned to purchase hats and shirts, not to exceed $2500.00,
second by Zeimet, motion passed unanimous.
A winter season reminder was made to not park, at any time, in front of the road and
street department's garage doors. They may need to use the doors at any time.
A reminder was given to try to get the trucks and equipment back in service as soon as
possible after a call. Make sure to check the fuel before returning to the station. Also
during the winter season, be especially careful to close garage doors when leaving the
station.
New business brought a discussion of deciding to purchase a little better quality wet suit.
The price is about $110.00 more, but the better suit will last longer and be more
comfortable to wear. Oaks motioned to purchase the upgrade suits, second by Nordby,
motion passed.
The year is about to end for our payroll and attendance at fire incidents, meetings, and
trainings. Be sure to check the roll call charts so you will be properly reimbursed for your
services. The cut-off date will be December I".
Any major truck repairs for the fire department should be done by certified technicians
qualified to do the job. Insurance and liability requires this.
Election of Officers is next month so check our job descriptions and requirements to see
if you are qualified for an Officer's position.
Cerise asked if our budget will allow more training classes this coming spring. Hopefully
it will.
