� <br />City Council Minutes <br />October 2, 2012 <br />Page 3 of 10 <br />----------------------------- <br />COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO ACKNOWLEDGE CATHY <br />MALECHA'S SERVICE TO THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES. COUNCIL <br />MEMBER RYAN SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />The Council noted that Cathy has done many more things than were listed <br />in the letter. <br />5.3. Brown Water Action Plan <br />Lee Bundy, Pine River Area Sanitary District (PRASD) presented three <br />options in dealing with the brown water issue. Option 1 is to continue <br />maintenance of flushing the hydrants. Option 2 is a process called Poly <br />Pig which scours the inside of the mains to rid them of collected scale. <br />Option 3 is a chemical addition which coats the pipes. Lee Bundy stated <br />that the Department of Health has recommended Option 3. The Council <br />discussed their concerns in adding another chemical to the system. <br />Council discussion pursued regarding the options. Council Member Ryan <br />suggested getting other opinions from the Department of Health. It was <br />the consensus of the Council to take no corrective action at this time but to <br />continue to monitor the situation and to research other ways of correcting <br />`- the problem. <br />5.4. Utilitv Billinq Credit <br />Mike Loven stated that the City has experienced brown water during the <br />past several months. Mike Loven suggested that the Council consider <br />offering a 50% or more, credit to water and sewer customers for the <br />month. <br />MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO OFFER A 50% CREDIT TO WATER AND <br />SEWER USERS FOR THE NEXT BILLING PERIOD. COUNCIL <br />MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />Council Member Ryan suggested giving a credit only to those who had <br />experienced brown water reminding the Council that the cost to repair the <br />situation will be expensive. <br />MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />6. Planninq and Zoninq <br />Report received by Council. <br />� <br />
