City Council Minutes
October, 2, 2007
-------------------------
SOUTH OAK STREETS. COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL SECONDED THE
MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0.
11.2. COUNCIL MEMBER
RYAN SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0.
Chief Braam questioned the City's policy on stop sign installation. He
spoke about safety concerns near the Anderson Brothers pit. Mike Loven
noted that the area the Chief is referring to is a private road and the City
follows the State and County policies of not placing stop signs on private
property.
Council Member Nagel suggested that the City consider using yellow
crosswalk pedestrian signs. Mike Loven noted he would look into the
possibility of acquiring some of the signs for use in the downtown area.
Loon Lake/S. Hurtig Road
Mike Loven informed the Council that Loon Lake Township has agreed to
a joint project with Pequot Lakes to improve South Hurtig Road. He noted
that Loon Lake would take the lead in the project, however the township
does not have the $2,500 bidding requirement that the Council has placed
on the City. Mike requested the Council to waive the bidding requirement.
COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY TO
ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH LOON LAKE TOWNSHIP FOR
IMPROVEMENTS TO SOUTH HURTIG ROAD AND TO WAIVE THE
$2,500 BIDDING REQUIREMENT AND THAT THE MAXIMUM THE CITY
OF PEQUOT LAKES PAYS FOR THE PROJECT IN THE YEAR 2007 IS
$8,000. He noted
that there are still items remaining on the punch list and that the second
extension of the Developer's Agreement has expired. He indicated that he
would be recommending that the City not take over the improvements until
all items on the punch list are addressed.
