Relevant Personal/Professional Experience: Please describe your professional, civic, or community
~ participation which may be relevant in serving on this board/commission.
Professional Experience
During my career, I have worked with many diverse individuals and served in a number of roles.
Listening and communicating clearly while respecting differing opinions was foundational to
an•ive at a common understanding of how to move forward. Key competencies performed in
senior roles with national corporations include the following.
• Vision and strategy to provide leadership in identifying opportunities for growtl
and competitive advantage.
• Development of objective-based business plans to achieve specific goals and
advance corporate initiatives.
• Effective communicator with demonstrated ability to build strategic alliances as
well as coach and mentor teams of professionals.
• Developed and implemented an effective relationship management structure to
support product distribution.
2. Co-founder of Community Music Festival
Co-founded t11e Lakes Bluegrass Festival (now in Pine River) with tllree goals:
• Promote American Grass-Roots Bluegrass Music
• Create a family-friendly community event
` • Create a venue to raise money for a worthy cause (i.e., non-profit).
With our personal finances backing the event, Tim and I launched the festival in 2002.
Using our business knowledge and experience, we developed a business model and the
tactical plan to execute it. We worked with community leaders to put together
sponsorship concepts and packages, create and execute a marketing plan, raise awareness
in the community, get volunteers to help at the event, plus many more activities required
to pull off a successful event. The festival has been profitable all 7 years and has raised
tens of thousands of dollars for local non-profits. [n 2012, the festival was acquired by
the Pine River Area Foundation that now owns and runs the event. We remain a close
partner of the Foundation and anage the entertainet and irarketig. The event grew
from just a few hundred attendees to over 3600 in 2012.
