PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT
MINUTES OF THE JULY 11, 2007 MEETING
The monthly meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson, 20 members
were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and revised to add Bob Peterson
II to the list of who helped at Safety Town. Loven motioned to approve the minutes as
revised, second by Rickard, motion passed.
Truck and equipment checks were discussed. Engine 1, 2, and 3 all checked good. Engine
1 has two new ratchet straps for securing cars and Engine 2 needs the hose bed tarp
repaired. All of the gasoline valves are shut off on Engine 2 and a gas can needs to be
added to the check list. Water Tender 1 was missing a flash light and has no safety cones.
Rescue 1 was OK. The KED is under the seat. Grass 1 left turn signal does not work in
front. Grass 2 is missing a flash light and safety glasses. The ATV is all OK. Tanker 1 is
missing a step ladder which has been moved to Engine 1. Tanker 2 checked OK, but is
slightly low on antifreeze. Tanker 3 is missing a passport card. The back-up alarm is
working. Rescue 2 was not checked.
The financial report lists our fire fund balance at $42151.18. The scholarship fund
balance has been $852.67 and we added $214.80 from the jar at the breakfast, so the new
balance is $1167.47. The pancake breakfast report was that we set another new
attendance record. There were 909 adults and 240 children for a new total of 1149.
Receipts for the event was $6363.00 for adults, $960.00 for children, donations of
$646.00, and the scholarship jar yielded $214.80, for a grand total of$8183.80. Expenses
to date are $1730.55 for food, $722.85 for new turners, tongs, pails, pitchers, and batter
dispensers, and $1928.23 for the new grill. The total expenses were $4381.63. Profit to
date is $3587.63. We do not have the bill for the portable toilets.
Safety issues for tonight involved the motor vehicle rescue call at State Highway 371 and
County Road 16. Engine 1 was parked partially in the south bound lane and some police
officers moved some of our safety cones to open the lane for thru traffic. We were lucky
that nobody was hurt from highway traffic very close to our Engine. We need to do all we
can to protect our personnel. We probably should have parked the Pete off the highway
on Myers Road.
Old business issues were that next year we need to have 12 inch plates for the pancake
breakfast.
There was discussion on what we should charge for hauling water to be used for filling
pools, for concrete slabs, watering fields, and etc. We will charge $50.00 per load. The
people who get the water will have to pay the City directly for it.
The meeting room project still needs the floor finished, the cables installed for television
and the power point system, and locks and kick plates installed on the doors.
