The ice auger contest and snowmobile radar runs during the Breezy Point ice fest were cancelled due to poor ice conditions. The annual fire department report was discussed. The information on the three last pages of the agenda was reviewed. Fire department information was that the three new fire fighters hired in late 2005 have been voted into full-fledged membership. They are Kevin Wendt, Dan Cerise, and John Wasserbauer. New fire fighters recently hired were Scott Warner, John Hayes, David Wilson, and Matthew Zins. The new fire fighters will bring our total fire fighters to 30. The meeting and training room project was discussed. Estimated costs are approximately $17,000. Cement block walls will be used for better load carrying capacity and durability. The cost for cement block walls was comparable to wood. Engineering costs will be about $800.00. The heating and air bid from Dan Cerise is for$3200.00. The police department will contribute $3000.00 if they can use the room. The fire department and the City council have approved the project. The Council-would like the Fire Board to approve the project before construction begins. There is also a grant applied for in the amount of$4500.00. Estimates for donated labor are for $15,000.00. Costs for the project will be paid for from the regular fire fund. The project is for about a 900 square foot room which will have a capacity of 102 people. The City Council has pledged $2500.00 for the project. Thurlow motioned to approve, second by Benson, motion passed. In new business, Thurlow asked if the Fire Board could have a quarterly report on fire calls that have been billed, and a report on those that have been paid. The information will be available next meeting. Election of Officers for 2007 followed. Present officers are Chairman Peterson and Vice- Chair Thurlow. Thurlow motioned to retain our officers as they are, second by Benson, motion passed. Meeting dates for 2007 are April 25, July 25, October 24, and January 30, 2008. Please mark your calendars.
