No Re-Hire <br />In the event an employee is involuntarily terminated by the City, the City <br />may not re-hire said employee in any capacity for a period of three (3) years. <br />(Refer to section on Termination) <br />Probationary Period <br />The probationary period is an integral part of the selection process and shall <br />be utilized for observing the employee's work, for securing the most <br />effective adjustment of the employee to the position, and for rejecting any <br />employee whose performance does not meet the required work standard. <br />1. Duration: Every original appointment and every promotional <br />appointment is subject to a probationary period of six (6) months after <br />appointment and may be extended for an additional six (6) months. <br />2. Emplovees on probatio� are prohibited from usin� accumulated <br />personal davs, sick time, or vacation until thev have successfully <br />completed the probationarv period unless permission is �ranted bv a <br />Supervisor or Council Liaison. <br />� 3. Completion: An employee who has completed the period or <br />probationary service and who has not received, before completion of that <br />period, a written notice from the department head that his/her services are <br />terminated, shall be considered to have successfully completed the <br />probationary period. The Council shall acknowled�e successful <br />probationary period for every employee. <br />�4. Termination: The City Council may terminate a probationary <br />employee at any time during the probationary period for reasons including, <br />but not limited to; if in the City's determination the working text indicates <br />that the employee is unable or unwilling to perform the duties of the position <br />satisfactorily, or that his/her habits and dependability do not merit <br />continuance in this position. The probationary employee so terminated shall <br />be notified in writing of the reasons for the termination and shall not have <br />the right to appeal unless he/she is a military veteran, in which case the <br />procedure prescribed in Minn. Statutes, Section 197.46 shall be followed. <br />The City Council may accept the recommendations of department heads in <br />terminating employees.
