Any claim of job discrimination in the City should be brought to the <br />attention of the City Clerk. The City is committed to prompt and fair <br />processing of a claim of discrimination prohibited by this policy. <br />Discrimination <br />The City of Pequot Lakes is committed to providing a work environment <br />free of discrimination. No one will be hired, promoted, discharged or in any <br />way favored or discriminated against because of political opinions or <br />affiliations, race, color, age, national origin, religion, sex, marital status, <br />status with regard to public assistance or disability, or because of the <br />exercise of rights under provisions of the Public Employment Labor <br />Relations Act, Minnesota Statutes 179A.01 to 179A.25. Additionally the <br />City hires only citizens and aliens lawfully authorized to work in the United <br />States. No person who is between 18 and 70 years of age shall be <br />discriminated against with reference to City employment in any way <br />forbidden by federal or state law, and no City employee shall be required to <br />retire at any specific age. <br />Appointments <br />Every appointment to municipal service shall be made by the City Council <br />on the basis of inerit and fitness for the position. When required by law or by <br />the eCouncil, merit and fitness may be ascertained by written, oral or other <br />examinations designed to evaluate the ability of the candidate to discharge <br />the position for which the examination is held. The City Council may accept <br />the recommendations of department heads in making appointments. <br />Examinations <br />, The <br />City may require iob related testin� and exams, includin� physical <br />examinations and psycholo�ical examinations paid for by the City as a <br />condition of employment. When required, the applicant shall submit to � the <br />required testing and or examinations �,.���J�^°' ^��'�^-� ^��e�� <br />and provide the attending physician with all <br />necessary and relevant information and history, including the job description <br />for the proposed position.
