Planning and Zoning Department <br />Year End Review <br />Highli,ghts for 2013: <br />Grow Zone Discussion — The Planning Commission examined the return on <br />infrastructure investment of individual streets within the Grow Zone. On average, the <br />revenue generated through t�es on property adjacent to public streets returns 16% of <br />the long-term maintenance cost of the streets. The remaining 84 0 of the maintenance <br />cost needs to come from elsewhere in the City's Budget. <br />CSAH �� Gateway Discussion — The City has intensively studied the impact of the <br />proposed Highway 371 realignment. One major benefit identified is the City will have <br />the opportunity to reshape the "gateway" entrances of the City. The City provided input <br />to Crow Wing County Highway Department on various aspects of the segment of County <br />Road ii from the realignment into town. <br />North Washington Street Reconstruction Discussion — The Planning <br />Commission forwarded their comments to the City Council. <br />Comprehensive Plan Adoption — The Comprehensive Plan was adopted February 5, <br />2oi3. <br />Wellhead Protection Plan Update — The City's Wellhead Protection Plan was <br />updated and approved by the Department of Health October io, 2oi3. <br />Highway 37� Turnback Committee — Two Planning Commission Members and <br />Staff are members of this Committee, providing information and feedback between the <br />Planning Commission and Committee. <br />Highway 37� Turnback — The Highway 371 Turnback Committee directed the <br />Planning Commission to study the portion from Pillsbury Street to Grove Street. This <br />information has been forwarded to the Turnback Committee to be included in their <br />review. <br />City Acquisition of Property — The Council directed the Planning Commission to <br />determine whether or not acquisition of certain property would be beneficial to the City <br />and compatible with the Comprehensive Plan. <br />1�Page <br />
