Mr. and Mrs. Smith would like to know what they can do with their lot. They would like <br /> `-- to trim the trees and put up a billboard sign to sell skidloaders. If the road is going to <br /> reroute, they will sell the lot. <br /> Their CUP was denied at the March meeting. The application was to put up a building <br /> and signs. The app was denied as the storage structure is not a principle use. A principle <br /> use must first be established before any signage. Principle Use is an ongoing business on <br /> the site. Conduct commerce on the site and have employees. Not just storage or a sign. <br /> Mr. Smith asked if one day a week with a small fenced area with 3 skidloaders would be <br /> sufficient. A car lot, where you have people working onsite and others stop there and <br /> look at the skidloaders and make a transaction, that is a principle i se there is a vacant <br /> building with a sign where you call to purchase a skidloader-=i ` ie opposite. <br />_. Mr. Smith stated he planned to build a building, not staffed 5 or 7"d per week, but <br /> staffed. It was not going to be an unoccupied garage o'shed with a free. Mr. Smith <br /> asked if a storage shed operation would be allowed. He was told he would need a <br /> principle use first. The Planning Commission explained that the City is trying o entice <br /> business into the area. Ordinance specifies no storage units <br /> The Planning Commission explained the City encourage the types of businesses that <br /> create jobs. Billboards are not allowed inithe City and most cif the County, only in <br /> unorganized territory meeting certain criteria;; <br /> `.. From the City's stand point, he could put <br /> in a driveway;and do, some*0rmg, l ur he:would have to talk to the MPCA because he <br /> would probably of clearing.
