Mr. Williams stated that we need to establish what will be regulated.
Staff was directed to bring back some examples.
The Downtown Retail Committee would be a good group to approach with this.
Staff was also directed to bring back some potential ordinance amendments for the
current ordinance.
b. Comprehensive Plan Schedule:
Mr. Marohn explained the Staff Report. This is included in the 2009 Budget. We could
save some money and time if we could piggy back these meetings on Planning
Commission meeting nights. Some of the workshops may have to be scheduled at other
times to allow sufficient time for residents to attend and make comments.
Mr. Woog stated he would like to do these meetings similar to the Highway 371
discussion group on our meeting night, prior to our regular meeting, set a specific amount
of time and then move on to the regular meeting. It was the consensus of the Planning
Commission to do this. If we have a full agenda, we could have the Comp Plan meeting
at another time.
`., Mr. Habein asked if Mr. Marohn had considered doing a community planning charrette.
Mr. Marohn stated he scheduled workshops which would be held from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00
p.m. with City Staff monitoring the sessions which could save money. Articles would be
published in the paper and post cards mailed out for first workshop.
Mr. Woog asked if it would be possible to include information on the Comp Plan Review
in the local church bulletins. It was the consensus of the Planning Commission that
churches are a part of the community and should be approached to include this
information.
Mr. Williams stated that in developing a Comprehensive Plan a main thoroughfare must
be designated. Mr. Marohn stated the update will reflect that and added that the highway
will not be debated as part of this review.
OLD BUSINESS:
a. Shoreland Conservation Design (Alt. Standards):
Mr. Marohn explained the Staff Report. The following portions were discussed:
Mr. Williams, page 17, C: Minimum Structure Setbacks: He wanted to verify that the
setbacks are increased, further back from the OHW. This may not be an incentive to go
this route.
Mr. Marohn stated that the DNR is suggesting increasing the setbacks.
Minutes 2
Pequot Lakes Planning Commission
December 11, 2008
