APPROVAL OF MINUTES: <br /> L It was pointed out that there was an error in the Notice of Public Hearing published in the <br /> newspaper. The applicant's name was incorrect. Staff checked the file and the mailed <br /> Notice of Public Hearing had the correct name. <br /> A motion was made by Bill Habein, seconded by Mary Peterson,to approve the Minutes <br /> as read. All members voted"aye". Motion carried. <br /> ZONING ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT: <br /> Staff pointed out the 2 permits that had been issued and the 10 correspondence listed. <br /> Staff was directed to attend the Build Smart Summit. <br /> The following Potential Violations/Enforcement Actions were discussed: <br /> 1. Thomas Tulenchik—Mr. Tulenchik has not contacted Staff regarding restoration <br /> plan. <br /> 2. Darrell Lake—Staff is watching for a real estate sign. If property is listed, City <br /> must notify realtor of agreement to maintain restoration. <br /> 3. Sign Ordinance list—Staff directed to contact property owners to enforce <br /> Ordinance. <br /> 4. Virgil Dahl— Staff reported she has contacted the Chief of Police to accompany <br /> her to Mr. Dahl's property. <br /> 5. David Clark—Staff reported she has contacted the Chief of Police for an update <br /> on his compliance. <br /> *** Mr. and Mrs. Scott Smith arrived. Chairman Woog explained that their public <br /> hearing had already been held and that his Conditional Use Permit request had been <br /> denied. Chairman Woog asked Mr. Marohn to explain his Staff Report. Staff supplied <br /> Mr. Smith with a copy of the Staff Report. Mr. Marohn explained the definition of <br /> Principle Structure and Accessory Structure and that their proposed use is similar to an <br /> automobile sales lot. <br /> Mr. Smith stated that he purchased a commercial lot and should be able to do anything. <br /> He had contacted Ken Larson at MN/DOT regarding signs. Mr. Larson advised him that <br /> MN/DOT would permit some signage, but also advised him to contact the City. The <br /> Planning Commission stated that the City Ordinances take precedence over MN/DOT <br /> rules. <br /> The Planning Commission suggested one option would be to work with an existing car <br /> lot. They also explained that Mr. Smith would need an operating business to have <br /> signage. <br /> Mr. Smith stated he has a lot in Royalton with a sign and equipment for sale. There are 9 <br /> vacant lots where he purchased his commercial lot in Pequot Lakes.
