There is no trail in front of Units 31 —35.
Mr. Miller asked if the little loop in the trail by Units 25 and 22 could be moved down a
little to flow to docking area. The area is mowed and maintained. He requested to go to
the SIZ in that area rather than stay behind the trail. He is willing to take the little loop
segment out and bring bow down toward docking facility. Mr. Marohn stated there are
vegetation concerns; there can be no maintenance in that area. Mr. Miller agreed.
Mr. Adams commented on the trail in front of Units 12—22. The trail is up above the
trees. Mr. Miller stated that the trail will stay above the slope. Mr. Woog stated that the
Lake Association has submitted photos and it looks like there has been clearing done in
this area. The drawing needs to be changed. Mr. Miller asked if it would be possible to
go out in the spring and discuss this. He would also like to see if this area has been cut or
if it is a maintenance issue taking care of itself. Mr. Adams asked if the trail could be
walked also before it is cut in. Mr. Miller stated,'it would be staked so everyone could see
where it will be located. He will stake the whole trail along this area to the vegetation
restoration area. Mr. Miller will add these notes to the, plan indicating these plans.
Ann Beaver, Cullen Lakes Association President commended the applicant and his
representatives for paying attention to the requests at the last"hieeting and making the
changes desired by everyone.
Mrs. Beaver pointed out that there appears to be some wetland above the OHW. Mr.
Miller stated that there-is a dny type of wetland with vegetation within the SIZ. Mrs.
Beaver asked that I are be taken 46 not fill the wetland according to the ordinance.
Mrs. Beaver further pointed out that`the revised shoreland use plan indicates the mooring
area is going across the rushes rather than next to them. Mr. Miller stated that that was
not the intent, it should be on the side to use the opening already there.
Mrs. Beaver asked if the boat lifts will be stored in the winter storage area in addition to
the docks, stretched out along the SIZ. Mr. Miller stated there is a lot of room and the
path was swung for additional space to put lifts along the path. They will try to keep
them in the particular areas by the docking facilities.
Mrs. Beaver urged the applicant to consolidate the damage to the shoreline when taking
the lifts out. The Cullen Lakes Association does support the hands-off approach. They
encourage this with all property owners, not just Wilderness Resort. People want to see
the lake, but they need to be educated that trees are part of the view, part of the beauty.
Mr. Miller will supply new drawings. He does not need to appear at next month's
meeting as there will be no discussion, just approve the changes discussed tonight. Mr.
Miller will email them out next week. It is important to get back to him right away in the
event he needs to make additional changes.
MINUTES 18
Pequot Lakes Planning Commission
February 19, 2009
