O. Box 147
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472
RE: Conditional Use Permit request for Additional Signage
Dear Mr. Smith:
Please be advised that on September 17, 2009, the Planning Commission
approved your Conditional Use Permit based on the following findings of fact:
1. The request for a Conditional Use Permit is to allow a reader board that
would not conform with Section 17-7.1(4)(C) which outlaws all flashing,
revolving or intermittently lit signs. Section 17-7.1(5)(A)(6) allows for a sign
concept plan for anything that is not allowed in the sign section.
2. It has not been indicated whether or not the requested sign coordinates
with other signs on the property. The applicant has indicated there will be
attractive landscaping around the sign.
3. The proposed sign is two-sided with a total of 68 square feet.
4. The required sign setback for the Commercial District is one foot. The site
plan does not indicate the setback from the property line but it is 30 feet
from the roadway. The applicant has indicated that the proposed sign will
be far enough from the intersection so that its location does not cause a
problem for cars at the intersection of Brunes and West Grove Street.
5. The property contains two businesses, American National Bank and
Farmers Insurance. The property is allowed an additional eight square feet
of sign for the additional business.
6. The proposed sign is eight feet in height.
7. The property currently contains one sign on Brunes Street. The applicant
is requesting an additional sign for the corner of Brunes and West Grove
Street. They are allowed two free standing signs.
i
