Hervey
4849 Pine Needle Drive
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472
Re: City of Pequot Lakes
Potential Ordinance Violation
PIN: 2912900200511009
Dear Ms. Hervey:
It has come to our attention through a complaint that you are likely in violation of the
City Code regarding Abandoned Vehicles, Exterior Storage and Visual Standards.
The City Code defines Abandoned Motor Vehicle as "A motor vehicle as defined in
Minnesota Statutes Chapter 16901, as amended, that ... (c) has remained on private
property for more than thirty days and is inoperable or is unlicensed unless kept in a
garage or other storage structure. "
The City Code states in Section 17-7.5 (1-D) EXTERIOR STORAGE that "Abandoned
motor vehicles shall be stored within a structure or completely screened from view from
adjacent properties and right-of-way. "
The City Code states in Section 17-7.6 VISUAL STANDARDS that "No use shall
create, maintain or continue any activity or structure which has a strong negative visual
impact or offends the morals or violates the standards of the City."
I have been to your property and taken the enclosed pictures. If these pictures accurately
depict the condition of your property, I would have to find that you are in violation of
these two provisions of the City Code. I
As opposed to formally citing you for a violation of the Ordinance,we would like the
opportunity to work with you to correct the situation. We are requesting that by no
later than May 13,2009 you remove or properly store the abandoned vehicles from
your property.
