The following topics were discussed and my <br /> understanding of the discussion follows each issue: <br /> 1. Area between the Ordinary High Water mark(OHW)and the berm: This area <br /> was re-vegetated 25 feet from the OHW with a berm placed along the south side. <br /> This area currently has live growth. The berm and the restored area had been <br /> mowed. However,after discussing this with our City Planner, he advised that the <br /> re-vegetated area and the berm should not be mowed,allowing the native <br /> planting to grow. <br /> 2. Sand play area: You requested permission to install a small sand area for your <br /> grandchildren to play. Only 10 cubic yards of material are allowed in the Shore <br /> Impact Zone(SIZ). The 10 cubic yards were used when the former owners did <br /> their excavation and restoration. You will not be allowed to add any additional <br /> sand or other material in the SIZ. <br /> 3. Tree canopy: Six trees were to be planted between the house and the SIZ. The <br /> trees the former owners planted have died. You stated that you would like to <br /> plant fait trees to address this restoration issue. After contacting the City <br /> Planner, fruit trees alone will not meet this requirement. Fruit trees will not <br /> have the stormwater retention and filtration qualities that native tress will have. A <br /> combination of native trees and fruit trees is necessary to complete the restoration <br /> of the tree canopy. <br /> 4. Swale: I explained why a swale was necessary to be placed along the eastern side <br /> of the Construction Impact Zone,to collect stormwater to allow it to filter into the <br /> ground rather than run directly toward the lake. You had inquired if a rain garden <br />
