growth pattern. Main transportation corridors-even if the desire is to moderate
growth along them-need to have the above as a part of the consideration.
• Keep mega houses off shoreline properties.
Recreational Opportunities
This map shows recreational opportunities within Pequot Lakes. What do you
think of the recreational opportunities available within the City?
We have more recreational opportunities than we need: (1)
We have the right amount of recreational opportunities: (23)
We could use more recreational opportunities: (25)
We have no recreational opportunities of value: (0)
What, if any, new recreational opportunities are needed and how should they
be paid for?
• Play ground with summer pool. (3)
• A nice playground in the trailside park would be great. Not a great playground in
town.
• Indoor recreation.
• We need a public swimming beach with bathrooms and parking. (6)
• When deciding on any additional amenities, please consider longer term
maintenance and replacement costs.
• We need a better public beach facility within the city limits.
• We need to develop a park with ball parks and skating rinks. (4)
• Central park for kids near the trail or chamber building
• Pool needed at the ballpark,as in Nisswa and a pool (pay for by bond).
• We need a park for youth or a community center
• Trailside park has unrealized potential to be a park which draws people.
Irrigation and playground equipment will do wonders.
• Bike and walking trails down to the lake and around town would be wise.
Forest Habitat
The 2004 Comprehensive Plan identifies forest habitats as a critical natural
resource. The City has taken steps to protect habitats, especially inner-forest
areas, from development.
Do you have any thoughts on wildlife and forest habitats within the City of
Pequot Lakes?
