requesting the Substantial Completion date be moved from
Friday, October 12 to Wednesday, October 24.
Overall, it is probably good that Tri-City Paving does this
added work versus another firm so that issues with
coordination / different contractors will not arise.
This added work will be incorporated into the base contract
via a change order.
In August — in anticipation of construction starting right
after Labor Day on Tuesday, September 4:
a. We will hold a pre-construction meeting with Tri-City
Paving (and their subs), necessary City staff, and
utilities.
 b. We will have the City implement a link on the City's
website to take people to a Construction Update page on
our website. This page will give people some
information on what this proj ect involves and periodic
updates on the contractor's upcoming schedule.
c. We will work with the City on probably going door-to-
door with the businesses to explain the upcoming
project.
Council Action Requested: I would recommend the City
Council approve Tri-City Paving's quote of $73,509.25
based on the unit prices presented in it and adjust the
Contract's Substantial Completion date from Friday,
October 12 to Wednesday, October 24, 2012.
*This memo drafted by Tim Houle
