� <br />PEQUOT LAI�ES AREA FIRE BOARD <br />NIlNUTES OF THE.TULY 25, 2012 MEETING <br />The quarterly meeting of the PLAFB was called to order by Chauman Peterson. The <br />minutes of the last meeting were not read due to a motion by Rudberg, second by Bartels, <br />motion passed. <br />The second quarter fire ca11 report totaled 23 ca11s. By types there were 5 good intent fire <br />alarm catls, 4 structure fires, 3 good intent power lines down, 2 good intent motor vehicle <br />accident/rescue, 2 grass fires, 2 mutual aid structure fires, 2 medical assist, and 1 each of <br />a good intent smoke scare, propane leak, and an assist police. By location, 11 were in <br />Pequot Lakes, 5 in Breezy Point, 2 in the City of Jenkins, 2 in Nisswa, 1 in Moose Lake <br />Township, 1 in Loon Lake Township, and 1 in Poplar Township. Last year we had 14 <br />calls during this period. <br />Fire bills sent were 8 that total$5140.00. <br />Training for this quarter totaled 26 hours. By types there were 12 hours of iive house <br />burn,. 3 hours propane training trailer, 3 hours auto e�rtcica.tion, 3 hours pump engine <br />operation, 2 ours structure fire suppression, 1 hour tanker shuttle water transfer, 1 hour <br />tornado drill, and 1 hour search and rescue. <br />� The second quarter financial report was discussed. Insurance has increased approximately <br />45 % this year. Maple Township did not renew their fire contract so we lost about <br />$ I 1,000 revenue for the fire fund. The department received abont $2500.00 fram a <br />homeland securiiy grant issued by the state of Minnesota. This will help our deficit. <br />The loan on our Peterbuilt engine was paid in full. This caused the debt service-principal <br />to be at 204 % of the annual budget. Sjoblad motioned to approve the financial report, <br />second by Bartels, motion passed. <br />During the second quarter the fire department sponsored a$500.00 scholarship for a high <br />school senior, donated $500.00 to a Nisswa fire fighter fighting cancer, participated in the <br />safety town program through the school, had a live house burn in the City of Jenkins, <br />participated in holiday parades in Pequot Lakes and Nisswa, had a new record attendance <br />at our fourth of July pancake breakfast, and Matt Zins aud Nick Putnam resigned from <br />the department due to personal reasons. Dubay asked if we offered a scholarship for <br />veterans. Our scholarship is awarded to a high school senior planning a technical <br />ed.ucation. Gary Hart thanked the department for the great job with the house burn in the <br />City of Jenkins. <br />The County 800 megahertz radio program should finally be in operation some time in <br />August. Everything is progressing slowly, but effectively. <br />Maple Township did not renew our fire contract for 2012-2013. They decided to contract <br />� with the Pine River Fire Department who offered a one year contract for $4500.00. <br />
