Clinics would be held April through October, not a lot during the winter. There may be
-- come clinics or small groups year round. The arena would not be heated. It would have
a nice dirt floor for precise dirt footing.
The location is very attractive; there are no other facilities in central or northern
Minnesota.
The other small building would be removed. Space would be rented to an association,
the stalls would be rented. The parking area would not be paved.
This needs to evolve into a year round use to even pay the taxes. Could this be rezoned
to an Ag use? The taxes are $32,000 per year.
The Planning Commission wanted to state that this area will be impacted with the
highway.
Mr. Marohn advised that they will need a CUP for this use or rezoned to Ag. ;They will
also need some flexibility for parking area and for impervious coverage. The building
height may also be an issue.
Is there support so she can go further? No one is saying no.
OLD BUSINESS: None.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Page 7, the "Nay"vote is incorrect;the Nay vote was Tom Adams, not John Derksen.
A motion was made 4y Mark Hallan, seconded by Tom Adams,to approve the June 17,
2010 Minutes as corrected. All members voted"aye". Motion carried.
ZONING ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT:
Bittner pointed out the seven permits issued and the twenty-four letters that were sent or
received.
The following Potential Violations/Enforcement Actions were discussed:
1. David Anderson letter—Staff explained that this issue is not resolved as Mr.
Anderson indicated. Staff has contacted the City Attorney and is waiting for his
response.
2. Ken Larson letter about right-of-way mowing; - Staff explained that Kline
Funeral Home had requested permission to mow the ditch. The City will not
allow Kline to maintain the 50-foot Highway 371 buffer. SuperValu has not
requested permission, but has been mowing the ditch.
Minutes 15
Pequot Lakes Planning Commission
July 17, 2010
