Buell RE: Letter of interest for vacant City Council position: Dear Mayor and Council: Please accept this letter as my submission of interest in filling the council seat recently resigned by Kathy Malecha. After a long discussion with my wife Patty, We have decided that the time is right to seek the vacant seat on the Pequot Lakes City Council. We have resided in Pequot Lakes proper since moving to the lakes area in 1999 with the exception of an 8 month residence in Nisswa prior to the purchase and acquisition of our current residence. We have had opportunities to move to surrounding towns, but have maintained our residence here because of our love of the city. As a business owner since 1999 in the Pequot Lakes and after having three separate locations, all within the city limits, I feel that I have the qualifications to assume the seat vacated by councilmember Malecha. I have witnessed many of the concerns as well as many of the joys of owning and operating a business in Pequot Lakes. � � As you are aware, [ have also been substantially involved in the community since moving to this area. I have served as a board member as well as serving three consecutive terms as the President of the Pequot Lakes Chamber of Commerce prior to its merge with the Brainerd Lakes Chamber. Following the transition and merger 1 also served for three additional years as a member of the board of directors for the Brainerd Lakes Chamber. Perhaps my greatest contribution to the community was co-chairing the 2008 Minnesota Governors Fishing Opener held in Pequot Lakes and Breezy Point with my wife Patty. I experienced firsthand the need for cooperation and for compromise in dealing with multiple groups and issues. As Counciiwoman Malecha stated in the Lake Country Echo, it is time for our community to come together. The past decisions of the council are in the past and it is time to look to the future to build a community that is business friendly and is constituent friendly. I believe that I can do just that. Again, please consider this as my letter of interest for the vacated position on the Pequot Lakes City Council. 1 look forward to working with all the council members to continue to move Pequot Lakes in a positive direction.
