QUESTIONS FOR COUNCIL APPLICANTS: SCOTT PEDERSON
1. What do you see as the future of Pequot Lakes?
I see a slow and steady growth. We must take care not to look at the City as all
business nor all residential. We have to look at both together in order to have a good
balance.
2. If appointed, what would like to see the City or Council accomplish within limited
financial constraints?
Be financially responsible. We must plan out five or ten years in order to save money.
Planning is key. We have to understand our roads, streets, and infrastructure and what
needs to be done.
3. What do you bring to the Council?
I bring long range thinking and leadership skills, along with budget and planning
experience. I also bring common sense, creative thinking, and a love of Pequot Lakes.
4. What is your background?

I was in business management for thirty years, but am now a small business owner. I
have been involved in Pequot Lakes by being on Planning and Zoning and have been the
Chair for two years. In 2010, I ran for City Council and was only 17 votes from being
elected.
5. The Council meets the first Tuesday of every month and occasionally on other
Tuesdays for a special meeting. Do you have anything that would be a conflict with
necessary meetings? You would also be asked to act as a liaison to the Park Board (2nd
Thursday at 4 p.m.), the School District (as needed), and the Fire Department
(Wednesdays, but check with them). Are you willing to devote your time to this?
Yes.
