The Planning Commission is worlang
t mexd te arriinance to make the sign concent review nrocess a auick and easv one.
.

The Planning Commission spent a lot of time reviewing the existing sign ordinance as well as
sign ordinances from surrounding communities and communities outside the area. The
Commission has concluded that the existing sign ordinance is fair and is in harmonv with the
long range vision of the City.
As a final note, there was a broad consensus among both Planning Commission and City Council
members who participated in the discussions, that the sign ordinance is not the most important
issue facing Pequot Lakes' future development. The Planning Commission will shift its focus to
expandin the Grow Zone and imnlementin the other economic development strateies
recommended in the updated Comprehensive Plan and recommend wherever possible more
ordinances which further streamline the process of obtaining permits, etc.
Sincerely,
Scott Pederson
Chair, Planning Commission
Cc: Planning Commission
Sandy Peine, City Clerk
Thomas Adams
Vice-chair, Planning Commission
Dawn Bittner.
