The position of Animal Control Officer is hereby established and the Chief of Police or <br /> designee shall serve as the Animal Control Officer. He or she shall be appointed by the <br /> City Council. Nothing contained herein shall prevent the City Council from contracting <br /> with a person to provide such services. The Animal Control Officer is hereby authorized <br /> and empowered to issue citations for violations of the Chapter. <br /> Section 9-2.3. DUTIES OF THE ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER <br /> The Animal Control Officer shall perform the following duties: <br /> 1. Capture, seize and deliver to any designated pound any dog running at <br /> large within the City of Pequot Lakes. <br /> 2. Investigate all reported incidents wherein a dog has bitten a person and <br /> confirm that said animal is quarantined as required herein. <br /> 3 y repeft y <br /> the Animal Gefft-Fel Offleer-- <br /> 4. Undeftake stieh ether-matters as mey be dir-eeted by the City Cie <br /> Section 9-2.4. DOG HOUSES,FOOD AND WATER <br /> 1. As to dog houses, Minnesota Statute §343.40, is adopted by reference as if <br /> fully set forth herein. <br /> 2. A dog must be provided with food and water of sufficient quantity and <br /> quality to satisfy the animal's needs. <br /> Section 9-2.5. ANIMALS RUNNING AT LARGE <br /> No dog shall be permitted to run at large within the limits of the City. <br /> Section 9-2.6. IMPOUNDING OF DOGS RUNNING AT LARGE <br /> The designated Animal Control Officer may take up and impound any dog found running <br /> at large within the City of Pequot Lakes. If the animal is wearing a tag for the current <br /> license year ep riod,then the Animal Control Officer shall mail notice of impoundment to <br /> the owner,within twenty-four(24)hours of said impoundment,the notice to be sent to <br /> the owner at the address given to the City Clerk's office at the time the tag is obtained. A <br /> dog so impounded shall be held by the pound master for a mininitun maximum of seven <br /> (7) days, and may be reclaimed by its owner within that time by payment to the pound <br /> master of the time impounding fees,to be t by the City r,.,,. eil by r° elutie " "t! <br /> Section 9-2.7.
