I ORDINANCE NO. 11- 02, SECOND SERIES AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9 OF THE CITY CODE RELATING TO LICENSING AND REGULATING THE KEEPING OF DOGS CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES COUNTY OF CROW WING STATE OF MINNESOTA The City Council of the City of Pequot Lakes does ordain as follows: Purpose and Intent: The purpose of this ordinance amendment is to amend Chapter 9 of the Pequot Lakes City code relating to the licensing and keeping of dogs. Amendment: Chapter 9, Article 2 shall be amended as follows: Section 9-2.1. DEFINITIONS 1. Owner. Any person, firm, corporation, organization, or department owning,keeping,harboring or acting as custodian of a dog or dogs. 2. At Large. The dog is off the property of the person, firm, corporation, organization, or department owning,keeping, or harboring said animal, and the dog is not under restraint. 3. Dog. All dogs over six(6)months of age. 4 Under Restraint. The dog is on the premises of the person, firm, corporation, organization, or department owning, keeping, or harboring the animal, if it is at heel beside a person having custody of it, if it is obedient to that person's command, if it is within a private motor vehicle of a person, owning, keeping or harboring the animal, or if it is controlled by a leash not exceeding six (6) feet in length. 5. License Period—(2-years). The period from January 1 until the following December 31 of every even-numbered year. 6. Animal Control Officer. That person appointed by the City Council to enforce this Chapter, and shall include any person serving as "Deputy Animal Control Officer." 7. Dog House. Dog house shall mean a dog house as defined in Minn. Stat. §343.40, as amended. Section 9-2.2. POSITION OF ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER Page 1 of 8
