Cost to homeowner; <br /> Many local"handy-men" could not work if <br /> not licensed; <br /> More government bureaucracy. <br /> Prevent basic problems with foundation; Need a good inspector, not someone on a <br /> PC favored adoption 6 to 7 years ago, power trip. Need to work with contractors <br /> Council did not support; to resolve issues particularly with <br /> Level playing field for all contractors. remodeling. <br /> 3. If your municipality has not adopted the State Building Code, do you anticipate <br /> doing so in the near future? <br /> Maybe in 5 to 10 years. <br /> No. <br /> 4. If your municipality has not adopted the State Building Code,have there been <br /> discussions to do so? <br /> The subject pops up once a year or so. <br /> Not for 6 or 7 years. <br /> 5. If your municipality has chosen to not adopt the State Building Code, please <br /> indicate the reason. <br /> This is a smaller community with many"handy-men"that earn a buck here or there by <br /> remodeling, building an addition, etc. There seems to be a fair amount of resistance from <br /> these people and they seem to be in the majority, or are at least more vocal. <br /> Council did not support.
