i <br /> J. Off-Site Advertising signs. <br /> 1. General Policy. The City of Nisswa recognizes that the size of off-site <br /> advertising signage can have a detrimental impact on surrounding land uses. <br /> It is the policy of the City to restrict the size, location and height of off-site <br /> advertising signs so as to minimize those impacts. <br /> 2. District Prohibition. Off-site advertising signs shall not be allowed in the <br /> OSR,SR,LR,UR and CW zoning districts within the City. <br /> 3. Size and Height Restrictions. Newly constructed off-site advertising signs <br /> shall not exceed one hundred(ioo)s.f. in area, nor shall they be greater than <br /> 15 feet in height within the CBD district and 20 feet in height in the HB <br /> district. <br /> 4. Separation Between Signs. There shall be a minimum of 300 feet between <br /> off-site signs or between off-site signs and on-site signs,with the on-site sign <br /> having precedence over the off-site sign. <br /> 5. Pre-existing Off-site signs. Existing offsite signs shall not be added to but <br /> shall be maintained at the present size and location.Offsite signs shall display <br /> in a conspicuous manner that owner's name,permit number,and registration <br /> number or both and date of construction. In the case where there is at least a <br /> 50% reduction in the sign area, the supports of said sign may be replaced <br /> upon notification of the Zoning Administrator. Materials for supports shall <br /> be made of similar material as the original supports. <br /> 6. Minimum Construction Standards. Offsite signs shall be securely built, <br /> constructed and erected on posts sunk at least three feet below the natural <br /> surface of the ground. All wood posts shall be treated to protect them from <br /> moisture by creosoting or other approved methods when they enter into the <br /> ground. The owner of any offsite sign shall be required to have it properly <br /> painted at least once every two years; all parts and supports of said sign, <br /> unless the same are galvanized or otherwise treated to prevent rust. <br /> 7. No offsite signs shall be allowed in the following areas: <br /> a. 1,00o feet North and South along T.H. #371 from the centerline <br /> intersections of C.S.A.H. #13-77 and T.H. #371, and C.S.A.H. <br /> #18-Hazelwood Drive and T.H. #371. <br /> b. 500 feet East and West of T.H. #371 on C.S.A.H. #13 and #77 and <br /> C.S.A.H. #18-Hazelwood Drive. <br /> c. 300 feet along T.H. #371 or intersecting roadway at other intersections, <br /> not including frontage road outlets. <br /> 8. Directional assistance signs may be provided by the City at other locations, <br /> with the costs borne by the parties named. <br />
