CSAH 11 CORRIOR STUDY REPORT
PEQUOT LAKES LONG RANGE CONCEPT 2- TWO LANE DIVIDED WITH BIKE LANES AND LANDSCAPING
 • This concept also provides a landscape median such as Concept 1, but the median is dropped near
intersections to provide short (50') left turn lanes
• City studied Government Drive options recently
• This concept eliminates parking and provides room for a bike lane on each side of the roadway
along with a 7' green median
• The corridor roadway width remains at 47'
• Opportunity to fix the skew at CR 112
• Truck movements are better accommodated with this concept in comparison to Concept 1
• The future pedestrian trail options are shown through town
• Paul Bunyan Trail treatment across CSAH 11
• Turn lanes are provided at the future collector road / City hall
• Concept has 12' lanes — desirable lane width is 14'
• Concept matches into Mn/DOT's improvement at the proposed bypass
• Estimated cost $890,000 (see Appendix E for detail)
• See Appendix A for a graphic of this concept
PEQUOT LAKES SHORT RANGE CONCEPT - RESTRIPE TO 3-LANE WITH PARKING ON NORTH SIDE
• This concept could be completed with the 2012 mill and overlay
• Elimination of parking on the south side of the roadway (could also be accomplished by
eliminating the parking on the north side of the roadway)
• Introduces a center left turn lane
• Corridor would receive an operational beneft of added left turn lanes until the bypass is
.._ constructed and a long term concept could be implemented.
• As an alternative, a bike lane could be introduced on each side of CSAH 11, but parking would
have to be eliminated on both sides of the roadway (this was not drawn)
• Estimated cost $100,000 if combined with the 2012 project (see Appendix E for detail)
• See Appendix A for a graphic of this concept
...
SCHOOL SUBAREA
The County is aware that future increases in
traffic demand on CSAH 11 east of the bypass
may worsen traffic movements and exacerbate
an existing concern at the entrances and exits
to Eagle View Elementary School. It has long
been observed that the school's internal traffic
pattern has been disrupted by extensive student
drop-off and pick-up traffic and is not
functioning as desired during peak times. In
spite of past traffic control assistance from the
Breezy Point Police Department and recent
past access and intersection improvements
completed through a partnership between the County, the School District, and the City of Breezy Point,
traffic safety, capacity, and performance problems of CSAH 11 in the immediate area of the Eagle V iew
Elementary School remain. Due to local commercial property use and additional commercial land use
development occurring in the vicinity of the school, a solution that improves traffic safety at the school
Prepared by: Bolton & Menk, Inc.
CSAH 11 Corridor Study
CSAH 11 Subarea
Page 8
