Ciqof
GKOw•r1 Lakes
INSTITUTE
GATEWAY DISCUSSION
Background Information: The Highway 371 Committee has suggested the Planning
Commission study the segment of Highway 371 between Pillsbury Street and West Grove
Street. This segment of street is approximately 5,000 ft or .95 mile. The right-of-way
width varies from 170 ft(north) to 250 ft(south). The width at the CSAH 11/Highway 371
intersection is 150 ft. For perspective, a typical city right-of-way is 66 feet wide. Many
streets within the traditional grid of Pequot Lakes west of the highway have a width of 60
feet while a typical city street east of the highway has a 75 ft right-of-way. Regardless, the
highway right-of-way is significantly larger than any current right-of-way in the City.
W Gro `S t, E Grot+• ,, -^t9C- Y
N r ' o E Sibley:SRs''!'►- 'r.+l"y.
W Zibley St Ic `Two, o r _ `4s
M G
Q r TOYY.e r•$[I O* 3; si 'AixD ,
n in St a st _ m Co.Rd11
t
D 1A r
r
Ir
_ x• C4's'r I ..
t k e
. r 1 c t•s+ a
all t ' o ``.•'–—IrPPFrrn•Rd
7
tin St ; ,oz _ _ °'- ••
r
P1illsb_u.GY S.t C .. c Va, r T Jr,
The one mile stretch between Pillsbury Street and West Grove Street should be designed
as and function as a city street. The surrounding land use is made of up property zoned
Commercial and Downtown Mixed Use. The City has already made a significant
investment in infrastructure in this stretch of right-of-way.
Pequot Lakes Staff Report 1
August 15,2013
