_ W-1tildan, m, Resod August 15, 2013 i Dawn Bittner City of Pequot Lakes 4638 County Road 11 Pequot Lakes, MN 56472 Re: Wilderness Resort-- Walking Trail; Docking Systems I i Dear Ms. Bittner: Regarding our upcoming meeting at Wilderness Resort in response to Ann Beaver's correspondence,please note the following: 1. Motor Vehicle Traffic on Walking Trail. As I indicated to you in our earlier conversation, we became aware of resort guests driving on the trail after the installation of the new docking system, presumably for the purpose of loading/unloading equipment and passengers from their vehicles. Resort guests are now provided with specific instructions that no motor vehicles are allowed in the trail area. Each rental unit will also contain a guest manual with a map of the resort and instruction on no motor vehicles in this area. I also intend to post signs on both ends of the trail restricting motor vehicle traffic, however, you indicated I should wait on that until after your site visit to determine the exact verbiage on the signage. i Although Ms. Beaver's excerpts from the CUP do not mention it, I believe we had discussions with the Planning Commission regarding the need for the trail to be used for(a) emergency vehicles and (b) resort employees in motorized vehicles (to the extent necessary) to perform maintenance (such as tree trimming and removal of deadfall) as well as for purposes of transporting and installing docks, picnic tables, etc. If this language is not present or this is not the understanding, the CUP needs to be amended accordingly. 2 We also would like the trail to be available for golf cart use by guests. Wilderness is encouraging all resort guests and owners to utilize/purchase golf carts (electric) as a more environmentally friendly and convenient way of traveling around the resort, with less parking issues. Please advise me if we need this issue addressed by the Planning Commission. With 60 platted lots to be developed with townhomes, travel to the beach, the clubhouse and docking systems will be much safer and more efficient for guests, owners and staff. 2. Dock Placement. The new dock systems have been installed in the approximate areas of the locations shown on the plat in the areas where there is the least amount of aquatic vegetation.
